 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: We want to have a child. I masturbated excessively earlier. Could this lead to infertility? Are there any medications available to regain fertility lost by masturbation? I read on your site that one should have sex during the fertile period of a woman. When is this period?

Harsha (Amritsar, India)

A: Masturbation does not lead to infertility. The fertile period is normally from the 14th day of period to 16th day of period if a cycle is of 28 - 30 days.

Q: Can I masturbate daily? My friends say that masturbation is good for health! Is this true? Is it good or bad? If I masturbate daily, will it affect my future child?

Karan (Chennal, India)

A: You can masturbate as often as you like. Masturbating has no negative effects on your health or your fertility! I am not sure how your friends have come to the conclusion that it's good for your health, but it's definitely not bad for your health!

Dr. Malpani

Q: Is masturbating bad for health? I masturbate about 2 to 3 times a day.

Mohan (Aberdeen, England)

A: Masturbation is not bad for health. So don't worry about its effect on your health or on your fertility. It is a perfectly harmless activity.

Dr. Malpani

Q: I have a big problem. I have been masturbating every day since childhood, and my penis is very small. I am getting married. Will I be able to father a child?

Rahul (Aberdeen, Dubai)

A: The size of the penis does not determine the fertility of a person. Other factors, such as sperm count, play a major role. So don't worry.

Q: I masturbate 2-3 times a week. Can you please tell me how to control myself? How can I prevent amebiasis?

Anil (Mumbai, India)

A: Do not eat uncooked food outside and have boiled or mineral water when eating outside the house. It is quite normal to engage in activities such as masturbation. As long as you don't do it in excess, and it doesn't interfere with your daily work and life, it's fine.
