Strange celebrity baby names

Naming your child after the offspring of your favourite celebrity may not always be the best decision. Choosing a strange name for a baby may put him or her in embarrassment in her or her future life. Here are some strange celebrity baby names.

Reema regrets her decision to name her son Aryan. "When Shahrukh Khan named his son Aryan, it sounded like a good, unique name. So, I decided to give my son the same name. What I did not count on was other people thinking the same way. In my son's class, there are four boys named Aryan. It has become such a common name," she says.

Many people like to copy celebrities when it comes to naming their children. It makes them feel a bit closer to their favourite celebrity. However, following the celebrity-naming trend may not always be the best thing for your child. Read on for some unique celebrity baby names.

Slightly out of the ordinary

Some celebrities want their babies to have distinctive names but they do not want the names to be that different. Actor Gwyneth Paltrow herself has a traditional Welsh name. She and her husband Chris Martin, the lead singer of the band Coldplay, have two children. While the daughter is named Apple, their son is named after the biblical character Moses. Both these names are different in their own right.

Courtney Cox is the star of the hit television show Friends. Her daughter with husband David Arquette is named Coco, as a tribute to the famous French fashion designer and founder of the Chanel house. Coco is also short for Courtney. When Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross was pregnant, it generated a lot of media interest since she was 45 years old. Her twin girls are named Eden and Savannah. The star revealed that Savannah was a name both she and her husband came up with on their own. The name Eden arose while the star was getting a massage.

Different but okay

The next category of celebrity names contains names that are different but not entirely strange. This trend has been followed by many big Hollywood actors. For example, actor Nicholas Cage has named his son Kal-el. According to comic book history, Kal-el is Superman's birth name. Superstar Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes have named their daughter Suri. The name is Persian in origin and means 'red rose'. It is also a Hebrew pet name for Sarah, which means 'princess'.

Hollywood's most famous couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie gave their daughter the unique name of Shiloh Nouvel. In Hebrew, Shiloh means 'peace', while Nouvel is French for 'new'. Another Desperate Housewives star, Teri Hatcher, has a daughter called Emerson Rose. Duran Duran lead singer Simon LeBon went natural with his children's names. He has three daughters named Amber Rose, Saffron Sahara, and Tallulah Pine. Similarly, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have three daughters called Rumer Glenn, Scout Larue, and Tallulah Belle. Another celebrity with three daughters is musician and philanthropist Bob Geldof. His offspring are Fifi Trixiebelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, and Pixie.

Completely extraordinary

Sometimes, celebrities do go overboard when it comes to finding the right names for their baby. Musician Frank Zappa has sold millions of records. His creativity also extended to naming his babies. He had to give them the strangest names he could find. His two sons are named Dweezil and Ahmet Emuukha Rodan while his two daughters have names like Moon Unit and Diva Muffin. Similarly, deceased INXS singer Michael Hutchence has a daughter called Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily.

Finding weird names for their babies is not restricted to musicians alone. Comedian and magician Penn Jilette obviously saw a funny side to naming his daughter Moxie Crimefighter. Actor Sylvester Stallone of Rambo and Rocky fame went a little too far as well, naming his son Sage Moonblood. Jason Lee, another actor, has given his son the unenviable name of Pilot Inspektor.

Celebrities do not always give their children normal names. If you are planning to name your child after a celebrity, make sure you choose something suitable. Otherwise, your child will be stuck with a weird name for the rest of his life.
