Entertaining Your Children

Chitra sat staring into space.  She tapped her fingers, fidgeted and was absolutely restless.

"I'm bored,!!!" she sighed.  Her mom and dad looked at her.  They suggested many things for her to do.  However, she just stared back and shook her head sideways.

Have you ever wondered how you could entertain your child?  Does your child always complain about being bored?  Do you get frustrated seeing your child being idle?  Well, here are some ways you can help your child have a good time.

The Mummy Run

You should buy some colorful streamers.  If you have more than one child, ask your children to wrap the other child with the streamer.  If you have only one child, wrap him yourself with the streamers.  Then ask your children to do the mummy march with their arms forward.  As they march, take pictures or film their funniest moments as a mummy.  Your kids are sure to have a blast!

The Action Fall

Do you remember all those action figures (eg. G.I.Joe, Hercules) you bought your children and never saw after the first day?  Well, this is the time to get them all out.  Ask your children to tie little parachutes (handkerchiefs or fabric scraps) onto these little action figures.  Tie a piece of string to each side of the chute and then knot them to the action figure.  Then ask your children to make x's out of masking tape and place them on the ground as landing targets.  Finally, throw the action figures into the air as high as possible and watch them fly as they slowly descend.  The child who's action figure lies closest to the x  target gets a point.  The person with the most points wins the game.

Water Balloon Fun

Create some water balloons and start playing some Cricket.  Get a plastic bat and start bowling those water balloons.  Anyone who hits the water balloon will score a run.  The person or team that has the most runs wins.  This will truly be a fun and wet experience!  Perfect for a hot summer day.

Icy Cool

Ever think about frozen bracelet?  Well, let your children fill an ice tray full of water.  Submerge a bracelet into the water and put the tray into the freezer.  Once frozen, remove the tray and remove the ice bracelet.  The person who can wear the cold bracelet for the longest is the winner.  Be warm!!

The Wet-n-Wild Paint Mania

Hang a three feet square poster board from a clothesline or a tree.  Water down paint into spray bottles or put the paint in buckets.  Stand way back as your children create the best piece of modern art there ever was.  Their clothes are sure to get messy so prepare them and yourselves for it.  At the end remember to hang up this masterpiece in their rooms once it has dried.

At least for now, whenever your child says "I'm bored" you'll have a number of ways to keep them on their toes.  Have fun and put a smile one your child's face!!
