BATATA VADAS (POTATO BALLS) Recipe | Snacks Recipe by reluctant_chef |
| INGREDIENTS | A perfect tea time snack!
IINGREDIENTS:
Potatoes Besan (gram flour) Red chilli powder Haldi powder (turmeric powder) Rye (mustard seeds) Kadi patta (curry leaves) Ginger Garlic Lemon Salt | METHOD | PREPARATION
Boil potatoes, peel and mash them. Then heat some oil in a wide pan and saute some rye, crushed garlic and ginger, and kadi patta. Once it crackles, add the mashed potatoes, salt and haldi powder and mix it well. Then take the pan off the gas and let it cool. Once cooled add some corriander leaves and 1/2 a lemon. Mix well. Then make them in round balls.
For the coating batter, in a separate small pan, take 2 cups of besan (for about 20 vadas) and add haldi powder, red chilli powder and salt. Add water to make it into a medium-thick paste.
Now heat oil in a deep pan for frying. Once heated, dip each ball fully in the paste and fry them. Your batata wadas are ready.
Enjoy your batata vadas with tea. For those who like spicy food, you can serve with sauteed green chillies.
(Tip: can also be served inside a bun to make it into a fun Vada Paav - see next post)
