Techniques to Improve Child's Memory

Techniques to Improve Child's Memory

While some children have in-born sharp memory, some often forget even what they were doing the last hour. Some find it easy and quickly learn the lyrics of songs and some forget them the very next day. Read on to learn about the techniques with the help of which you can improve your child’s memory.

Memories have the capability to enrich your child’s life because this makes them have lots of points to talk about and this in turn help boost their language skill. Children do a lot of things every day and their memories get mixed up by the end of the day. In fact children have to remember a lot of things right from their daily routine to things they learn at school or through the day.
With the increasing academic demands most often children find themselves confused and puzzled hence fail to recall what they should know. However, if you find your child in similar situation, you should assure him that remembering is a skill and it can be developed with regular practice in proper direction.

Techniques to Improve Your Child’s Memory

Here are few techniques which can help you to improve your child’s memory.

1. Create a Routine

Children automatically follow routines. So, if you establish routine in your child’s life he will immediately follow the next step in few days of time. Make sure you do not jumble things. Instead, help your child establish a daily schedule so that even when he gets older, he will not forget anything.

2. De-Stress

If your child is little bigger and you find that he forgets things often, it is quite possible that he is stressed. Stress prevents the flow of information in and out of human brain. Help your child de-stress before study time and also before bed time.

3. Play Memory Games

Memory games have been designed to help sharpen memories. They are really helpful. You can also create some similar game like environment and ask questions to your child so that his memory gets sharper.

4. Show How to Carry on Tasks

Children do the same way their parents perform tasks. So, if you want your child to learn something you should demonstrate first and then give him a chance to perform the task. Be prepared for mistakes and do not expect perfection the first time your child does anything.

5. Talk to Your Child Daily

Make it a routine to talk to your child daily. Focus on events that affected your child strongly and analyse his reactions. Ask him what happened in school, about studies and about people he met that day. Let him express his feelings about others and do not stop him from doing that. If you find he is having a negative attitude towards people, work on it very carefully.

6. Suggest Strategies

There are many memory tricks that you can share with your child and help him remember things in a better and easier way.

7. Practice Regularly

Practice helps children a lot to remember things. Practicing the syllabus for the exam on daily basis is the tried and tested method to help your child remember what he has studied in his school. If you practice reciting poems, enacting stories and question-answers etc regularly with your child daily, you do not have to stress your child to study hard when the exams approach.
By practicing the above techniques you can help improve your child’s memory. In addition to this, there are some food items that help improve the brain capacity and memory enhancement which you can add to the daily diet of your child. One of the most important things is proper, timely and sound sleep. Make sure your child goes to bed on time and gets asleep in no time. This will provide proper rest to his mind and recharge it for the next day.
Just keep in mind that a retentive memory will impact your child’s overall life experiences. It will help him learn things easily and quickly and help him have a better job experience and affect the relationships he will develop when he grows up. Ensure that your child takes nutritious meal every day, gets proper and enough sleep and finds learning things like fun activities. These will not only help your child develop good memory skills, but also help him grow up to be a healthy and happy person.

Which activities can help to boost child’s memory? Till what age is it possible to sharpen and polish child’s memory? Which foods can help to enhance child’s memory? Discuss here.
