Consulting child specialist, Dr. R.K Anand, M.D. (Paediatrics), FIAP (India), FRCP (Edinburgh), DCH (London), is currently Emeritus Director, Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology at the Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. His career has included stints as Professor of Paediatrics at the T.N. Medical College and at the B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital, Mumbai. He has contributed regularly to both national and international medical publications. He is recognized as an authority on breastfeeding. In addition, he has held several important administrative posts. These include: member of a Working Group set up by the Government of India for formulation of a Code for the Marketing of Baby Foods, Chairman of the Committee for Protection of the Child Consumer of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, and founder-president of the Association for Consumers Action on Safety and Health. He has also been advisor and resource person for childcare programmes of international organizations like UNICEF, Consumers International, International Baby Food Action Network, World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action, and Health Action International.
